Window tint warranty questions

A warranty can be valuable, but only when you understand who backs it, what it covers, and what documentation is required.

Ask before installation

  • Is the warranty backed by the film manufacturer, the installer, or both?
  • Does it cover bubbling, peeling, cracking, adhesive failure, or color change?
  • Are labor and removal included in an approved claim?
  • Is coverage transferable if the vehicle or property is sold?
  • What proof of purchase and product information must be retained?
  • Are commercial and residential terms different?

Common exclusions to review

Warranties may exclude glass breakage, scratches, misuse, abrasive cleaning, pre-existing glass damage, aftermarket defroster issues, installation on unsuitable glass, or damage caused by later repairs. Exact exclusions vary.

Who handles a claim?

Confirm whether you return to the original installer, contact the manufacturer, or use another authorized dealer. Ask what happens if the installing business closes or relocates.

Keep a simple project file

Save the invoice, warranty card, product name, VLT, installation date, provider details, and photos of the finished work. Do not rely only on verbal promises.
